Acid Pro 8 Scanning Vst Plugins
Posted By admin On 17.12.20If the plugins you are looking for are not in the above folder, install the plugins by following the instructions in this link. If the relevant plugin files are in the above folder, perform a rescan: Go to Acid Pro’s Plugin Manager. If it is not visible, click on View Plugin Manager. Click on Configure VST. Im getting the same problem on windows 7 pro sp1 64bit. When i start acid pro 8 it freezes at scanning vsts on 75%. I have to end the program with task manager. I tried deleting the plugin cache as described above that did not solve this problem. I tried setting acid pro 8 to run as an adminstrator, this did not solve the problem. I run Sony Acid Pro 7 (as 32 bit) on Windows 7 64bit. I have IK Multimedia's Amplitube series of VST plugins. I can bring up Amplitube as a VST, or Soft Synth, and use them as standalone plugins, but it does not appear in the effects folder, when I add an audio track to my project. Select the DLS soft synth or VST instrument you want to use, or select the ReWire Devices tab and choose a ReWire 2.0 device. If the VST instrument you want to use isn’t displayed in the Soft Synth Chooser dialog, you can use the Plug-In Manager window to indicate where your plug-ins are installed and scan for plug-ins.
Mercury Waves and Antares have some kinda crazy initialization scripts (.ini) and also some pretty intensive graphical user interfaces(.gui's).
Scanning your computer for VST plug-ins is a two-stage process: first, you need to tell ACID where your plug-ins are installed, and then you can scan those folders for plug-ins. You don’t need to scan for DirectX or ReWire plug-ins. These plug-ins are registered with Windows and are detected automatically. When rendering a track with multiple vst, the midi note either having drop out issue, or not playing on time in render. Tried all render method such as offline full speed, offline 1x and online render, with both case of enabling or disabling the 'allow anticipative FX processing', even tried to change the performance options on individual track, the problem still occurs.
I couldn't tell you how many times I have seen this (on the forums and on my own computer with other vst's.)
What I recommend is COMPLETELY uninstalling everything pertaining to the VST, unless it came from Microsoft. (unlikely Mercury Waves or Antares needs anything from microsoft except maybe C++)
Anyway, uninstall them.
THEN get crapcleaner. Or CCleaner
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner
and then run the REGISTRY CLEANER. (it also just cleans up all your temporary files too if you want it too)
After the before mentioned VST's have been completely uninstalled, and your registry has no 'registry' of your install.
Turn off the computer.
Then after about 20 seconds, turn on the computer.
run through the re-installation after the computer has completely rebooted and is running stable after 20 minutes.
(You may try closing your anti-virus too as you install if you are insane)
If during this install, you still can't find the VST in Sony ACID
(Make sure to check out 'where' the installer said it was installing and the name in sony acid's preferences matches.)

Sorry can't help much more than that as I don't use Antares or Mercury, but they are amazing!!!!
New Free Vst Plugins
I upgraded to the Vegas Pro Suite and got SF11 Pro as part of that upgrade (never mind that they don't credit for owning almost every other version of Forge...). So I just installed v11 today. The 32-bit version on W7-64. No 64-bit version... hunh...
I've been using v10 with all my plugins and without issue. But I can't get v11 to scan the exact same folders without crashing. And there's no memory of the scan: SF11 restarts as if it had never scanned anything. So there's no automated solution, and I'm not going to separate my plugins and rescan all my hosts. I've got literally hundreds of plugins.
I hope Vegas isn't as screwed up as Forge, but it sounds like it probably is. I don't know what's going on at Sony, but from all appearances, things seem to be moving backwards. Sad, sad days. Back in the box till a fix comes along. I hope I didn't just waste my money.
